ceiling loudspeaker install
Just some background on suspended ceiling speaker installation. Most ceiling speaker are installed with safety wires that are anchored to the concrete slab or steel c-channel. Safety wires are used so that if any accident occurs, such as a part of the suspended ceiling fails the ceiling speaker shall not be able to cause damage by falling onto someone or something. Ideally the whole weight of the ceiling speaker should be supported by custom or manufacturer equipped installation brackets that works in tandem with the framework of the suspended ceiling. Normally, for heavy ceiling speakers the manufacturer has accessories such as tile bridge or support rails which are used to install these speakers on suspended ceilings. If the manufacturer does not provide such items then they shall need to be custom-made or custom-ordered. The type of material used to manufacture the suspended ceiling tile should also be taken into consideration when doing installation as each material has different structural properties. This results in its ability to support a particular weight also changes with different types of ceiling tiles. Safety wires should not be installed as the main support of the ceiling speaker. The main ceiling speaker support should have a nominal safety ratio of 10:1. I stress again that safety wires are there in case of an accident only.
